Autonomy Skateboards Shin'enkan Collection Deck - Monkey & Wasp (Limited Edition)
The Shin'enkan Collection is not intended to be seen as just a collection - it hopefully should be an experience.
This beautiful art was taken from the original hanging scroll done with ink and light colors on hand made paper during the Edo Period (1603-1868) of Japan. Only 50 of these skates were made.
*Artist: Mori Sosen (1747–1821)
"Monkey and Wasp"
Sosen was a master of painting monkeys, leading many to believe he was a monkey who took human form to paint. This painting carries with it an auspicious tradition in wordplay. The Japanese word for “wasp” sounds like the word for “fiefdom” and “monkey” sounds like “lord.” Combining these words symbolizes the good fortune of being granted land from a lord. But does Sosen jest that if the monkey does indeed accept his “grant” that he may get stung?
Autonomy Skateboards is proud to partner with the Price Collection to bring light to this incredible collection from the artisan years of Japanese history during the Edo period.
