Autonomy Skateboards Shin'enkan Collection Deck - Tiger (Limited Edition)
The Shin'enkan Collection is not intended to be seen as just a collection - it hopefully should be an experience.
This beautiful Tiger is originally painted on a hanging scroll made from silk during the Edo Period (1603-1868) of Japan. Only 50 of these skates were made.
*Artist: Katayama Yōkoku (1760-1801)
"Tiger"
Yōkoku's father died when the artist was a very young boy. After his mother passed when he was thirty-three years old, he left his birthplace to pursue a wandering life of heavy drinking.
Unlike many other works of Tigers during this time, Yōkoku used color instead of just black and brown. He used large wave-like brushstrokes to form the fur of the large beast, and the posture of the tiger makes it seem as though it is leaping
into frame.
Autonomy Skateboards is proud to partner with the Price Collection to bring light to this incredible collection from the artisan years of Japanese history during the Edo period.
