Autonomy Skateboards Deck - Laura Thornhill Progeny Project
The Progeny Project pays tribute to those who rose up against all odds to do things their way. Laura Thornhill, the first female skater to receive her own pro model skateboard, caught the collective eye of the skate industry during her stellar performance at the age of thirteen at a 1975 South Bay contest where she won first place in both freestyle and slalom competitions.
Beyond the spectacle of early skate contests, Laura was one of the few girls at the time to drop in amongst other legends, fearlessly charging all types of terrain – fullpipes, backyard swimming pools, and vertical parks. Fortunately, her pioneering skate career isn’t merely an undocumented fable; Laura also graced the pages of Skateboarder Magazine as the first female to have a full interview feature.
Autonomy is honored to collaborate with Laura on this historical skateboard that highlights one of her unmistakable 360s. We are so appreciative of our friendship with Laura and all that she has done to pave the way for female skateboarding.
